Instructions for Importing Accountant’s Changes into your
Company File
A popular way to allow your
accountant to review and create changes in your QuickBooks file is to create an
Accountant’s Review copy of your data. This procedure allows you to continue to work in your QuickBooks file and
then import the changes your accountant has made without disturbing any of the
work you have done since you created the Accountant’s Review copy. When the accountant is done, you should
receive a copy of those changes on disk, cd, by email, or some similar
option. These changes then need to be
imported to your company file. Here’s
how to do that.
If the accountant’s changes file
is on a disk, be sure it is loaded in the appropriate drive. If the file came by email, save the
attachment and be sure you know where you saved it. Then, with your QuickBooks company file open,
go to the file menu and select Accountant’s Review. Your screen will look something like
this:

After
reaching this point and choosing “Import Accountant’s Changes”, QuickBooks will
open a window asking for a backup to be completed before importing the
Accountant’s Change file. Create the new
backup file in the normal manner. After
completing the backup, QuickBooks will open a window asking you where the
Accountants Change file you are importing is located. That window will look like this:

Navigate to the drive and folder where the Accountants Change file is
located. Select the file, and click on
Open. QuickBooks will import the
Accountant’s Change file into your existing QuickBooks file.
